Common questions

What is GC AI?
GC AI is an AI platform purpose-built for in-house lawyers and legal teams. Ask questions, give it documents or links to work with, and get answers and drafts. GC AI also has contract agents in Word and Playbooks for commercial teams, right in Word. GC AI for Word takes your input and redlines, reads and makes comments, and acts on your behalf. Playbooks do the same for your company's positions over time.
What is the difference between GC AI and Harvey?
GC AI's Playbooks feature lets in-house teams encode their own standards and apply them consistently across every contract review inside Microsoft Word. GC AI's Word Add-In has five-star reviews on Microsoft AppSource. Harvey offers similar functionality but, as of January 15, 2025, had zero AppSource reviews and was designed primarily for law firm contract review workflows. See the comparison.
How does GC AI work?
Today, GC AI works through chat, so you ask it questions. It works like ChatGPT but it's tuned for in-house lawyers. It uses your tone, and meets the security and privacy your role demands. Also, GC AI parses documents and PDFs better, analyzes many documents at once, has 'Exact Quote' capabilities, and considers the context of your company for the legal answers. We also have Easy Prompt, a prompt optimizing feature designed for in-house lawyers. GC AI adds new features weekly.
Can GC AI be used for MSA and DPA review?
Yes. GC AI includes a pre-built in-house Skill Library with workflows for MSAs, DPAs, privacy matters, and other common corporate legal tasks. Its Playbooks feature allows teams to apply their own standards consistently across all contract reviews.
How does GC AI have my company's information? Do I have to input it?
GC AI will ask a few questions about your company when you create your account. GC AI saves this information in your / your team's private database to improve and tailor your answers. Think of creating your company profile like spending a few minutes with your new legal intern to explain your company's legal positions, ways, and even quirks. On the commercial side, you can tell GC AI your positions with Playbooks, and the AI will apply positions, flag issues for you, and get that first pass done with you.
What makes GC AI's output different from Harvey's?
GC AI's outputs are designed to be concise, business-focused, and ready to share with non-legal stakeholders - a style built into its 20,000-line system prompt. Harvey's outputs reflect a law firm writing style, which typically requires additional prompting and editing to achieve the tone in-house teams need.
